Hey guys Mitchell Stanford here at Xavier College Llandilo, here to talk about year 11 and year 12 hospitality. This is an amazing course for year 11 and year 12 students if they like to cook or do other jobs in restaurants, cafes, or resorts. Hospitality is a VET (Vocational Education Training). In year 11 you will receive your chef’s uniform and the hospitality text that you will need in year 11 and 12, the text book costs $55.00, and the hospitality uniforms are about $80.00. Though-out the course you will do many things for hospitality to show that you can do all of the competencies, things that you learn though out the course. If you do decide to pick hospitality it is very important to pay attention because you may just have a lesson on Work health & safety. Another get thing about the hospitality course is the amazing dishes you get to make, for example Deviled eggs, omelet, poached pear with chocolate sauce, and camel Sponge cake.

These are just 3 of the amazing dishes you get to make though-out year 11 and year 12 hospitality. The next part of Hospitality I am going to talk about is the actual kitchen itself. The Xavier college kitchen is one of the safest kitchens to work in. The hospitality kitchen uses no dangerous chemicals, all the resources for cleaning are all natural, so that the environment doesn't get damaged now here are some edited pictures of the hospitality kitchens

Next I am going to talk about the work placement that you go on. When I was in year 11 the work placement choices were Sea-world resort up in Queensland or something here in Nsw, for me the year 11 work placement would of had to be the best week of my life, the reasons being that you got to experience a lot of different jobs those jobs being, catering, kitchen jobs, housekeeping, room service, concierge, front office and maintenance. During the night times of the Sea-world work placement. But during this work placement you do get your own free time.
The Work placement in year 12 at Xavier College only offers work placement in NSW, now i didn't find this all too great because I decided to go to the RSL in Penrith, it was an OK work placement. The reasons being that it was only OK was because there wasn't anything really challenging to do at this work placement, all it mostly was cutting up vegetables, moving things in to the walk in fridge, only got to practices coffees once, set up little salad/vegetable bowls. But other than that hospitality is an awesome subject to do.
For the year 12's of Xavier College during the winter you have to do coffee and hot chocolate mornings, you don't have to do them every morning. But to begin the coffee mornings. We have to warm up the coffee machines we do practice coffees so the machine can flow smoothly. It’s really rewarding experience, coming up to the trials for hospitality the attar students making notes on each section that they have learnt though out year 11 and 12. While the non-attar students do small assessment task to complete competency tasks. One of the tasks is practical but you do that in year 11. After the trials leading up to the HSC you get to do some practical lessons to finish competencies on those dishes, on your last practical lesson of hospitality you and your class get to choose what you want to cook.
I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog about year 11 and year 12 hospitality.
